![]() The Crossing Method Starting from Station Blue One in Longitude 5E Latitude 70, the expedition party will sledge pass the South Pole by trekking on foot or utilises the wind to ski or wind-sail to their final destination at Scott Base, Longitude 165E Latitude 77. Explore Antarctica Expedition : Stage One The journey will start from Blue One ice runway towards the Norwegian's Troll Station that is situated about 100km from one another through Prinsesse Astrid Kyst mountain range. Most of the time, the journey will be by foot or by ski. The estimated day of completion for this stage is about 10 days. Explore Antarctica Expedition : Stage Two Through Dronning Maud Land, the journey from Troll Station to the South Pole will also allow us to cross the Polar Plateau. In this 1,600km journey, we will be windsailing or skiing. The estimated day of completion for this stage is about 40 days. At the South Pole, the team will replenish their supply for the second half of their their journey. Explore Antarctica Expedition : Stage Three From the South Pole through Polar Plateau, the trio will windsail or ski towards the direction of the Queen Maud Mountains located in the Transantarctic Mountain Range. The estimated day of completion for this stage is about 30 days. Explore Antarctica Expedition : Stage Four This stage will involve much traversing on foot and ski through Beardmore Glacier or more well-known as Shackleton Glacier to cross the Queen Maud Mountains to reach the Ross Ice Shelf. The distance that will be covered is about 100km. The estimated day of completion for this stage is about 10 days. Explore Antarctica Expedition : Stage Five At the Ross Ice Shelf and guided by the Transantarctic Mountain Range on the left, the team will continue the journey by skiing or windsailing across the Shackleton Inlet, Cape Selborne Mulock Inlet, Minna Bluff to Hut Peninsula where the Kiwi's Scott Base and American's McMurdoc Station are located at. The distance covered for this stage is about 800km. The estimated day of completion for this stage is about 30 days. |
